Make Way for Small Furry Mammals - Road Trip to Calistoga

By Mike Gill

Who:  Brian Anderson and Mike Gill (that’s me)

What:  Two-day bike ride

When:  Sept 25-26, 2009

Where: To Calistoga, CA and return

Why:  Annual Trip, but also because we both have new bikes after spring crashes! (clavicles are tender…)

How:  By pedaling our asses off in the heat

This is a story about the weekend roundtrip bike ride to Calistoga I took with Brian.

Why did we take this trip?  Maybe to prove how “manly” we still are after both crashing this spring and damaging our clavicles (he into a deer and me over two downed cyclists - separate crashes) or maybe to show off our new bikes!  After our respective crashes, Brian purchased a Lynskey and I bought a Merlin.  I’m finally part of the “titanium” club.  Forever poo-poo’ed by the carbon boys!  Why am I bothering to write about this trip?  I don’t know…. blame it on my friends Vlad and Janine!  And all of the other cyclists who want to recall their memorable rides by blogging about them.  I guess we can all look back someday and say… ”wasn’t that an epic ride!?!?”
